While BMW is known for filling far in advance for multiple trademarks and naming conventions, and some of them are never used, this time the new BMW badge will host the upcoming redesigned F22 1 Series Coupe and F23 Convertible.
Over the past months, the rumor of a new 2 Series family continued to appear on the interwebs, and a latest report from AutoBild follows the same path. According to the popular German magazine, when the new 1 Series Coupe and Convertible launch in 2014, respectively 2015, BMW will label them with the 2 Series designation. At this time, after checking with our sources, we can confirm the the report and the new BMW 2 Series family.
The renaming of the 1 Series Hatchback remains unknown at the moment, but more will be revealed in two weeks when the new model makes its world debut.
